Catoo Lustig (they/she) is an Amsterdam-based writer and stage director for theatre and live music acts, graduated at the Academy for Theatre and Dance Amsterdam. Deeply inspired by the resistance, resilience and joy that can be found in street and clubculture, they’re passionate about creating both disruptive and moving productions that question the world with a critical yet compassionate eye.

Catoo’s work is often driven by a fascination with and frustration regarding injustice, misinterpretation, and stigmatization; they tell stories that defy simple interpretation, instead presenting multiple perspectives and questioning social constructs.

Her shows combine text-based drama with (live) music and have a strong visual character. Besides her own productions she directs (live shows) for musicians and theatremakers.

Catoo collaborated with, amongst others, Girls In Woods, Likeminds and Paradiso Melkweg Productions. In 2026 they founded AS WE ARE Productions: a platform creating interdisciplinary art projects around social issues. Highlighting multi-perspectiveness and exchange through differences.
