“I found the only way you could change people is to reach their heart.”
Jane Goodall
Catoo Lustig (she/her, 1999) is an Amsterdam-based stage director, graduated at the Academy for Theatre and Dance Amsterdam.
She’s passionate about creating both disturbing and moving theatre shows that question the world with a critical yet compassionate eye.
By choosing anti-heroes as her main characters, she shines a light upon unpopular figures. By which she provokes her audience to identify with them through experiencing the versatility of these characters rather than a one-dimensional headline.
Catoo’s shows combine text-based drama with live music and have a strong visual character. Besides her own productions she directs (concerts) for musicians and theatremakers.
Catoo collaborated with, amongst others, Frascati Producties, Likeminds, Nanette Edens, Joes Brauers, Claire Bender, Damani Leidsman, Ruben Wijnstok, Waël Qadriyeh and Wim Selles.
Currently she is linked to and mentored by Hiphop Academy Foundation in South-East Amsterdam where she herself dances as well.
