AS WE ARE Productions

interdisciplinary art-platform that critically questions social exclusion and stigmatization while adding new narratives onto that

AS WE ARE Productions (AWA) is a new platform under the artistic direction of Catoo Lustig. Annually, AWA develops art projects that question social exclusion and stigmatization and add new narratives onto that.

The first season represents a deliberately chosen initial phase, with the performance MOMMY ISSUES taking a first, feasible step toward realizing these artistic and social ambitions. The performance examines societal expectations around motherhood and stigmas against “problem youth,” directly exploring the core of the AWA concept.

In subsequent seasons, AWA will work toward focusing on one theme per year, explored from various disciplines and perspectives by creators from theater, dance, and music, among others. By bringing together multiple perspectives within a single theme, space is created for new stories and alternative forms of coexistence. Based on the conviction that recognizing differences forms the foundation for a compassionate society, AWA works with creators of diverse ages, cultural backgrounds and gives priority to artists from marginalized groups.
