As a young girl Nawal got pregnant by refugee Wahab, but had to give up their child. After learning to read and write later in life, she went looking for her child, but got entangled in a terrible cycle of war, violence and counter-violence. A generation later, Janna and Simon also go in search of their brother and father.
In Branden we see two intertwined quests, which results in an intriguing drama about the violent nature of man, an ineradicable zest for life, and hate and love that are sometimes so similar that you can no longer see the difference.
